On 12 February 2005 Sister Dorothy Stang, environmentalist and human rights worker, was murdered in the Brazilian Amazon. When confronted by the two hired gunmen, she fearlessly pulled out her Bible to read to them. Her killers listened for a moment, took a few steps back, then fired six times.
Follow UK student Sam Clements as he journeys to meet Sister Dorothy shortly before her death. In a lawless land where life is cheap, Sam discovers a passionate seventy-three year old and is immediately inspired by her determination to help the poor and powerless. For the last twenty years of her life Sister Dorothy fought against loggers and ranchers to preserve the Amazon rainforest, while helping peasant farmers live sustainably. Its war in the forest: discover the issues behind her mission, and ultimately her tragic death.
